Data deletion

Version 1.0•Last updated 22 October 2026

1. How to delete your data

You can ask Chatbucks Technologies Limited to delete the personal data Chatbucks holds about you at any time, whether you are a business user, a customer of a business, or a rider. Email [email protected] with the subject "Delete my data" from the email address on your account, or from the phone number or account you used to message a business, and tell us:

  • who you are (your name and the email, phone number or Instagram account the data is linked to);
  • whether you want everything deleted or only certain things (for example one conversation);
  • for a business account, the business name and whether the account should be closed.

We confirm receipt within 3 working days, may ask you to prove it is your data, and complete the deletion within 30 days. We then tell you it is done and what, if anything, we had to keep (section 6). Business users can also close their account from Settings in the dashboard, which starts the same process.

2. Disconnecting WhatsApp or Instagram

A business connects its WhatsApp Business number or Instagram account to its Chatbucks AI agent. To stop Chatbucks receiving messages from a channel:

  • in the Chatbucks dashboard, open Chatbucks AI, then Channels, and choose Disconnect for WhatsApp or Instagram; or
  • remove Chatbucks from your Meta Business settings (Business integrations) or from your Instagram settings (Apps and websites).

Either way, we delete the stored access tokens for that channel immediately, Meta stops sending us messages for it, and the agent no longer replies there. The conversation history already stored stays visible to the business until it is deleted under section 3 or expires after 365 days.

3. If you chatted with a business

If you messaged a business's agent on its website, WhatsApp or Instagram, your messages and the details you shared (such as your name, number, order and delivery address) are stored for that business. You can ask the business to delete them, or email us at the address above and we will do it. Conversations are deleted automatically 365 days after the last message in them. Invoices, receipts and payment records for orders you paid for are kept for the period section 6 describes.

4. Riders

To deliver for Chatbucks you verify your identity, so we hold your name, date of birth, address, phone number, BVN and NIN (or the verification result derived from them), vehicle details and your earnings. You can close your rider account from the Profile screen in the Chatbucks Rider app or by email. We then delete your identity data and your location history, and keep only the earnings, payout and cash-on-delivery records the law requires us to keep, for the period in section 6. Live location sharing ends the moment you go offline and is not kept beyond what is needed to show customers a delivery in progress.

5. What we use Meta data for

The data we receive from Meta (messages, the sender's WhatsApp number or Instagram-scoped id and profile name, and the business's channel credentials) is used only to answer customers on the business's behalf, to send order, invoice, payment and delivery updates in the same conversation, to keep the conversation history, and to detect abuse. It is not used for advertising, sold, or shared beyond the business, the providers that run the service and the law, as our Privacy Policy explains. When a channel is disconnected or a deletion request is completed, the Meta data for that channel or person is removed from our systems and backups within the 30-day period.

6. What we must keep

Nigerian financial, tax and anti-money-laundering law requires us to keep records of invoices, receipts, payments, payouts and identity verification for a set period after they are made, even when an account is closed. We keep only those records, restrict who can access them, delete them when the period ends, and anonymise what we can sooner. Everything else is deleted.
